My husband and I have always enjoyed organizing a good party. Therefore, when it came time to celebrate Noah’s and Jack’s 1st and 3rd birthdays in March we couldn’t wait to pull out all the bells and whistles. Since their birthdays fall within ten days of each other, and they are still young enough not to protest…we took advantage of this small gift and planned a “combined” birthday party.
To begin planning we drafted a list of invitees, how oh how were there so many people on the list? Then, we had to find a space that was big enough to accommodate our guests, the entertainment, the children, etc. We settled on the Atelier Building’s Sky Lounge. It has a large indoor space on the 47th floor with 360 degree views of New York City, plus a really cool ice rink on the east deck. Next, we had to decide on a theme. After polling Jack and overruling a few of his “too bright-too loud” suggestions we agreed on Winnie the Pooh. After all, Pooh Bear, Piglet, Eeyore and all other friends from the 100 Acre Woods are classic characters that easily appeal to babies, kids and adults alike.
For invitations, thank you notes and paper decor we used Print Icon in Chelsea, for the two most delicious and gorgeously designed caked we used Cake Hero in Brooklyn, The Little Maestros performed and Kristin Gray Photographer captured every moment. Tea & Sympathy catered the event and our bartender mixed mimosas for the adults- guaranteeing that everyone had a great time.
So much thought and planning goes into these birthday parties, and they are over in the blink of an eye!

The party featured tiny details to accentuate the Winnie the Pooh theme.
Delicious jelly tarts from Tea & Sympathy’s amazing catering team.
Beautiful flower arrangements from City Blossoms.
Each child received a Winnie the Pooh book to take home at the end of the party.
The birthday boys enjoying a quiet moment after their party, before two very long naps!
Snow on the ground, and cloudy gray skies couldn’t ruin the view from the 47th story outdoor deck at The Atelier Building.
